Housing for Japanese Engineers Working on Sohna Road or in Manesar: Where to Live in Gurugram

Not every Japanese assignee in Gurugram works in Cyber City. Engineers and project teams are often based in the office parks along Sohna Road, or at manufacturing sites in IMT Manesar, where Japanese automotive companies, including Maruti Suzuki and Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India, operate plants alongside many of their suppliers. Live near the site, or in central Gurugram?

IMT Manesar is around 25 km from central Gurugram along NH-48; allow 40–60 minutes each way depending on traffic. Living near the plant shortens the commute, but most of what expatriate assignees rely on day to day, such as supermarkets, restaurants, hospitals and serviced housing, is concentrated in central Gurugram. Many companies therefore house assignees centrally and run a company car or shuttle to the site.

For Sohna Road (Sectors 47–49 and beyond) the trade-off is smaller. The main office parks are a short drive from both Sector 27 and Golf Course Extension Road.

Planning the commute

• Ask for real peak-hour times. Off-peak figures are misleading in Gurugram. We give you morning and evening times from each residence to your site address.
• Match the residence to the shift. Early shifts make a central residence with a company car practical, because the roads are quieter before the morning peak.
• Car or cab. For a daily commute to Manesar, a dedicated car and driver is more reliable than app-based cabs.
• Allow for the monsoon. Heavy rain between July and September can cause serious delays on some routes, so build in a buffer for important meetings.

Housing a project team together

When three or four engineers arrive together, a four-bedroom floor keeps the team in one place while everyone has a private bedroom. For a long project, this is often more practical than separate hotel rooms.

• Green Meadows, Sector 27: 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms over 2,230 sq.ft., an 8-minute walk from the Millennium City Centre metro station.
• Sushant Lok Block B, Sector 27: a 4BHK floor of about 2,700 sq.ft. on a quiet residential street, minutes from Galleria Market and Max Hospital.
• Conscient Hines Elevate, Sector 58: 3BHK apartments on Golf Course Extension Road with clubhouse access, convenient for offices in the southern sectors and on Sohna Road.

Registrations and paperwork

We file Form C online within 24 hours of each foreign guest's arrival. Engineers on visas valid for more than 180 days, which includes most employment visas, must also complete their own FRRO registration within 14 days of arrival through the e-FRRO portal. We provide the lease and address documents they need promptly after check-in.

We sign the lease directly with the company and issue a GST invoice every month. Stays start at one month.
